Hi everyone!! I’m wanting to build a terrarium, but have never done this before! The terrarium itself will be 30 inches long, 12 inches tall, and 12 inches deep. I’ve been doing research for it, but wanted to ask this community too! What plants do you recommend I plant in this terrarium? Thanks in advance! 😊

I’ve never done one myself but I think the one plant I see in every viral one is a fittonia

I haven’t done a terrarium. My local greenhouses have a section of terrarium plants.

Be sure to make a drainage layer. To prevent mold, sterilize your soil and any sphagnum moss by pouring boiling water over it (obviously let it cool before you use it.) You can also boil some water and soak any sticks you intend to use in it; aside from mold, they can sometimes carry small insects (they tried to eat my cork mount.) If you'd like to include beneficial insects, springtails and isopods are highly recommended (I've never used them.) As for plants, you can do pretty much any tropical, but fittonia, ferns, and mosses are all great for starting out. If you want to try mini orchids, gastrochilus japonicus has been the easiest one I've tried. If you want a more unique moss, selaginellas are very beautiful. If you want a climbing vine, marcgravia is a nice size for small spaces
