# Hello All, I only plant patio tomatoes and small eggplants in pots…

_Gepostet von MK am 2025-09-27_

Hello All,

I only plant patio tomatoes and small eggplants in pots because of my small back yard and I’m more of a “see if it grows” person (currently) and then I eat them.
A few of the tomatoes ripened early and I’ve had a few ripen every week or so and then they stopped growing. I continued to fertilize per instructions.
See tomatoes on 9/17. They look strange. Perhaps cold weather but my sister said they don’t look right. I picked a few this week that ripened over the last week but they still have a strange green on the top.
What don’t I know???

Thank you Nan!
I live in MA. It did get down into the 50’s a few times.
Are they safe to eat?

If the tomato is still firm and the skin isn’t split, it’s usually safe to eat once washed. Flavor and texture may be affected.
But, if the tomatos skin burst as the tomato thaws they are only safe to eat right after they were picked and unthawed.
