Could someone help me with my plant? She’s a elephant ear I got from my aunts backyard and I put her in a drain pot about a week ago and after two days the leaves started turning brown, she was kept inside so I put her outside where the sun mainly hits and this is her now

Either shock from being moved into a pot, over watering would be my guess. It does look wet currently so make sure it’s dry before it gets more water and just keep an eye on it. Im sure it’ll bounce back

Currently raining so everyone’s outside I was expecting a new leaf so I will just bring her back inside !

Looks like it’s just stressed out. I would try a smaller pot and I would follow a regular schedule on watering and light. Too much light can cause the plant to turn and I believe that’s what happened was just the immediate change of environment.

I currently do not have any pots could I do a glass jar? I’ve never had a elephant ear

If you don’t have any other pots then that’s okay too. But when you put it in this pot may I ask how many inches of soil was inbetween the roots and pot?

#### Steffy respondió el 2024-07-17

I would say about 2-3 inches

I’d wait a little so you’re not stressing it out too much but I’d use that same pot but just add more soil to the pot if you can. Try getting some indoor potting soil I just use regular degular soil from Walmart. This pot is a little big but not too big. Let the roots have a place to go that’ll help the plant get her strength back😊 I love elephant ears they’re absolutely stunning once they mature

Honestly I’d just stick to a regular routine and you should have a happy healthy pant! Hopefully this helps💚

Replace the pot with a smaller one. Elephant ears like the soil to dry out. Too much soil will hold too much water the plant can’t use and rotten the roots. Check the soil is dry to the bottom before watering. Do not water on a strict schedule. Water only when the soil is dry.

Recall the lighting at the location where this plant was growing in. Put it in that same lighting.

Add rooting hormone powder to the roots to help the plant create new roots to support leaf growth.

Fertilize with 50% diluted liquid fertilizer every two weeks in the growing season. 🍀🪴
