I’m going to be leaving my plants for a short period, 😢😢😢, and I’ve tried several things to help with watering; nothing has been really satisfactory. So now I’m checking out a different avenue, and have several questions, that I hope some of you can answer: #1… What are your overall opinions in using self watering pots like this? #2… Are they reliable in keeping house plants moist, or do they keep your plants too wet? #3… Can they keep the tips of your moisture loving plants from drying out and browning? #4… Do you ever use these pots for your plants that like to get really dry before they are watered? TIA for any info regarding these self watering pots! 🤗💚🪴

I have used plastic self watering pots from walmart for my pothos plants and personally i think they have thrived pretty well in them! i usually let them dry out between waterings of course but i have noticed my pothos in the self watering pot has grown better than my pothos in one of my porcelain pots (and they were propagated from the same plant). I’m definitely not a pro but this is just my experience. hope this helps!

So, you use the self watering pots for your Pothos plants, but you water them as well? Is that defeating the purpose of a self watering pot? I’m just trying to get a clear picture of this in my mind. TIA…🤗💚🪴

well when i water them the excess water that drains from the plant lands into the bottom reservoir so it still does the whole self watering thing so I can still go awhile without watering/refilling the reservoir again.

To answer number 4 no it will just make the dirt wet all the time until the water is gone. I hope this helps
