POV: Your deliciosa wants to touch your obliqua.

What would you do? Cut the root at the base of the plant and remove? Cut the tip that resurfaced? Move the tip back in the soil? Let them get touchy feely?

😂 I try to redirect my deliciosa roots back into the pot when they try to get away. Their roots are strong! I’ve seen some crazy pictures of house damage done by old deliciosas. It’s impressive, but I don’t want to experience it firsthand lol. It might out-compete your obliqua, as cute as it would be for them to hold roots

Hahah yeh the last option isn’t actually an option, I’m going to baby that obliqua.. and it is still a baby too lol

I agree with redirecting the root, also that (pink princess?) in the back is so gorgeous

You know, that’s the first time I could say that about it. Thanks!
It’s been issue after issue with it. I ended up chopping all but two leaves and propagating a bunch of cuttings.

The center stem is the original plant and I have two other cuttings on each side all on a grow pole now, just waiting for it to climb. This one really taught me not to give up on a plant no matter how bad it looks.

i would either try to redirect it back into the pot or cut it off if you can’t. the end looks young and fresh so it should be bendy enough to tuck in the corner of the pot

lol after the comments I went to bend it back, it was very shallow and completely lifted out and pulled more roots upward. I struggled for a second and realized I was making the other roots worse off.. so off with its head it went.

Thanks everyone for your input! I tried 🥲😫

that’s great actually that it’s already creating its own root system. cutting off the end will encourage it to work on those underground roots instead
