# Lemon tree help: Two year old tree that’s in a pot since the native…

Lemon tree help: Two year old tree that’s in a pot since the native soil here is not great.

The tree had a lot of flowering and growth in the spring, but most of the lemons fell off (I’m guessing the tree is still too young to support all the weight). Not much growth this summer, it’s really warm here.. in the 90s. It has started to cool down a bit, so I’m seeing new branching, leaves, and a few buds.

I’m concerning the new leaves are coming in waxy and curling.. any ideas what’s causing it?

Fruit trees having curling leaves can be a lot of different things, but my guess is that it’s not getting enough food since it aborted the lemons early, fruiting plants/trees are heavy feeders and drinkers, especially when they are forming the fruits. It’s past growing season to feed now, I’d watch some videos from Epic Gardening on fruit trees and how to overwinter it properly for your zone, as well as when to do some pruning. Which you will need to do to promote new better growth for next year and set your tree up for better success
