# HELP! Over the last few days, it looks like something is eating our…

HELP!

Over the last few days, it looks like something is eating our plants. A week ago we didn’t notice anything. Then our plants started to look thinner, but we just finally beat an aphid infestation with some live lady bugs, so we chalked it up to ‘recovery’.

Now, on closer inspection, something is DEVOURING our hibiscus, all the way down to the stems and beyond!

It looks like damage you’d see from rabbits, deer, or something - but those are literally impossible culprits.

We live in a townhome and our back patio is open to the sky, but has 8ft fences on either side between the other units then the garage. The ground is all paver. Essentially, our patio is a square to the sky with walls all around it.

What is it?

How do we stop it?

I have a 7 ft high fencing around my backyard. These are the animals that use the fence as a walkway through my neighborhood: squirrels, possum (carrying 5 babies), raccoons and cats. They climb and they all chew plants. You can put a wireless camera to see what shows up. 🪴🍀🐿️

Do you get grasshoppers? The grasshopper damage in my yard this time of year gets really intense. Makes some plants look like just a pile of sticks, cuz they eat anything green

I was thinking it was caterpillars or grasshoppers. But, the photo shows stems and branches are chewed off and no chewed leaves. Just missing whole leaves. I thought an animal with teeth especially when it’s described as deer damage with no access deers can use. It’s a mystery.
