# Just rescued this little guy from a friend and it's not doing very…

_Pubblicato da Stephanie il 2025-02-17_

Just rescued this little guy from a friend and it's not doing very well so I'm going to replant it and trim of any dead roots and leave. Would love to know what it is and the best soil and I will get a smaller pot for it once I take it out and see what size his roots are. There is 2 places on the second picture that look like new leaves are coming but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help

Cut the two leaves off where they are bent. Your plant will look like green onions for a bit till the new leaves. Looks like they have new growth under the sheath.

When my bird of paradise was doing this it was an under watering issue. The leaves are too heavy for the stems to hold, which causes them to snap. I put him in a self watering pot and the issue corrected itself almost immediately

I think it’s a Florida Green philodendron.
