I would call these shoots. A plantlet is something growing independently. These are growing from the roots of the parent plant. I suppose if you separate them from the parent and grow them independently they would become plantlets. I would just leave them as they are and let them develop a fuller pot of plants.

Yes, I thought I would leave them too and have a fuller plant.

Ha ha, yes, I called them babies too, and not just about covers everything. But I’m a bit obsessive and so I do a progress report every time I water my plants and it asks about plantlets and shoots.

The way I categorize them:

Plantlet - grows from the parent plants base or root system, but will have its own root system and you can separate.

New shoot - growing off an existing part of the plant above soil level.

I'm changing my mind. As usual Google is not always that clear! If I understand it correctly a shoot comes from above the soil and it does not have its own roots. A plantlet on the other hand has the ability to be separated from the parent because it has its own root system and other plant anatomy. Which is exactly what Greenleaf said!
