What exactly do you mean by plant burnout?

Like plant slump, I’m just not feeling motivated anymore.

I feel like that happens to most of us from time to time

I say give yourself a break! I felt that way and I took a break just caring for the plants I had, soon I just started feeling better

Yeah, I got this after root aphids killed like 5 of my plants a few years ago. I think it’s important to do an honest assessment of whether or not your plants are bringing you joy. Maybe give away or compost the ones that aren’t. That way, all your energy will be refocused on the ones you truly love and you will have less plants to care for, thus more free time to spend on yourself.

These are good points. I got burnt out in winter when all of my 140+ plants were inside and required hand watering one at a time. I keep most outside in warmer months. I water with a hose. I have a faucet timer and a drip irrigation system I use when I’m out of town for weeks. Can’t use it indoors. So, about 30 plants are no longer on the property. 😆

I also combined plants into one pot including spider plants and pothos propations. I stopped propagating to give away. Too much work. It’s hard to let go.

I’m learning to buy easy care plants that hold water a long time like hoyas, spider plants, tradescantias, succulents, ponytail palms and cacti. It takes the stress off.

I don’t have nearly as many plants, currently 31 but 3 are succulents that I’ve combined into an arrangement. I bottom water the majority of mine together in the tub. It’s so much easier for me to do that, than go back and forth with a watering can.

Have time per week for plants and do what you want with the rest of your week

I don’t know if it applies to you but I put all my lights on timers because it was too much to remember turning them all on

Completely agree, this is an absolute necessity for me! I can’t imagine turning all mine on manually. As a general rule, the more tasks that can be automated in my day, the better.

i definitely agree with deciding what about plants brings you joy and focusing on that. purge some of your plants if you need to. keep the ones that have easy care you can handle. at the end of the day, they are just plants and your mental health is more important
