# I'd love for some advice! I got this Monstera from Walmart a short…

I'd love for some advice! I got this Monstera from Walmart a short while ago. The brown spots started showing up shortly after I brought it home. I'm like 98% sure it was from being overwatered at the store, the soil was so wet when I brought it home and stayed wet for a while. I let the soil dry out and checked the roots. Which looked good, and I haven't had anymore browning since. But what do I do with this leaf? Do I cut it or just leave it be for now? If I do cut it. How far down do I cut it?

I also recently got mine, from Walmart as well, soil also SOAKED. Had two leaves with pretty substantial browning and decided to experiment and cut the brown off which didn't help at all with one. The one left is...eh. So I ended up just taking the one off, I followed the stem all the way down and just gently kinda peeled it off. I think this one will end up coming off soon as well. Shame, but it'll just sap the plants strength. Hope she stays healthy!

Thank you! I wasn't sure if I should peel it away at the base so this was very helpful! She had a new leaf coming already when I got her, which you can see in the second picture, its her first fenistrated one so fingers crossed she continues to put them out!

you can cut it or wait for the plant to drop it naturally, i personally wait because it still provides nutrients and such for the plant but i don’t think there’s harm in doing it either way
