# Deciding when to water, is one of those things that drives everyone…

_Geplaatst door Lynda op 2025-03-20_

Deciding when to water, is one of those things that drives everyone CRAZY…😵‍💫! I’m posting a pic of the three moisture meters I routinely use, not including wooden STAKES, (which I use on all my plants that like to be dry before they’re watered.) I’m really having a problem with the white one, which was highly recommended by several of you. Notice the white one shows my plant is 95% wet; COMPARE THAT READING TO THE READINGS OF THE OTHER TWO MOISTURE METERS! I purchased another one of the same white moisture meters, and it is responding the same… it will show my plant is 95% wet for quite a while! (I haven’t actually gotten to that part of the experiment where I figure out how many days it will stay at
95%!) I’m feeling like this is not a very trustworthy moisture meter; why does it show a plant is 95% wet for at least a week or more, when the other moisture meters show dropping moisture values? TIA!

The one I use is the same type as your green one and it works perfectly fine for me. I almost let myself get convinced into buying one of the fancier ones, but I’m glad I didn’t bother. Maybe you just got a defective one. You should return it. If you got it on Amazon and it’s past the official Amazon free return date, contact the seller and oftentimes they’ll work with you. Maybe they’ll send you a new one.

I use the cheap green one. I would pull the plant out and look at the roots. I would believe the white one actually. Maybe the white one is more sensitive…? If it says 95% and you look at the roots and they’re dry… you know it’s defective. I bet they’re wet

Are you pushing them in to the same depth?
I have the white and the green ones.

Yes, I pushed them both all the way to the bottom of the pot, and wait…?
