Moss pole or trellis.

I second the moss pole. They are more work, but the results are amazing!! My White Princess Philo leaves almost doubled in size and space between leaves now very minimal. Gorgeous!

Thank you all! I’ve never used a moss pole before—what is the care process and maintenance?

Moss poles are fun because you can get the most mature growth out of the plant, but they’re more work. A trellis or wooden plank would also do nicely. I’ve seen some people use plant clips to help it climb up the wall, but be warned that it will grow some roots onto the wall that may later damage the paint when you remove it.

They will not only grow on the wall, they will grow into the wall. I have a heart philodendron which is much smaller than yours but it started rooting into the wall!

I did the wall clips for my adansonii..yup, sure did, rooted right into the wall. They also tore the paint right off when I removed them. Concept is cool tho, and it really did look kick a$$!!!

You could possibly use these to attach it to the wall for support

Just watch out for wall damage with those, did them for a while til I had to pull them down

#### Kaitlin replied on 2026-01-18

Okay thank you! I’ll keep that in mind

You could top it and root The cutting. In theory this would force lateral growth on the taller plant.

That’s what I wound up doing because the plant started to look like she was withering. Poor girl

If you can, hang a trellis on that wall.
