I have a pothos that seems to be losing leaves closer to the base. Is this ok?? Does this look like roots are coming out and I should repot? I believe pothos are like that - they get more leaves at the end, but I certainly don’t like losing leaves. They get yellow and fall off.

I’m not an expert by any means but if this were my plant I would think it either needed more room for roots, or it needs fertilizer, or both, maybe? Also, you can trim the ends (you can easily propagate any clippings to create new plants) or wrap the ends of the vines back up around the stems that have lost their leaves and if you keep guiding them to cover the bare spots it will eventually bush out again. I have been through MANY seasons with my pothos now and have many times, the most recent being just a couple of months ago (after repotting from a very root-locked pot) and this is how he’s looking now! Couldn’t be happier.

Thank you! I’d like a bushier plant as opposed to long - or maybe a bit of both!

Mine does this sometimes. I still haven’t figured out why though. I usually just take the bare part and wind him around in the pot and take a paperclip unfold it and make a u shape with it and stick it in the soil so it stays and it usually grows thicker again. But I’ll check back to see if anyone else chimes in.

That’s interesting! I’ll give it a try!

I had the same problem with my pothos. Mine used to be a huge plant but I had to chop and prop like I did in the photo.

The way I did it was that i chopped off most of the plant that was gi ingredients me the most problems. After that, I put most of the cuttings i could in water and then the base plant is mostly gone. I'm sorry to say.

Me—I would chop and prop. That part isn’t ever going to look better. Then start over in new soil.
