# I recently treated myself to a Thai Constellation. I noticed the root…

I recently treated myself to a Thai Constellation. I noticed the root poking out of the bottom of the pot. Should I go ahead and repot it? I’m so scared to kill this baby! I love her so much. She’s been acclimating in my house for a week. Can one of you come hold my hand while I do it? 😂

Would it be advisable to let the new leaf harden off first? It’s still pretty tender.

I would wait, they don’t mind being super pot bound. And that’s leaf should harder of, beautiful plant!

Thanks for the advice. I may cut the pot now to make it easier when I get around to repotting.

Good idea! Don’t want to damage those precious roots!

That also looks like an aerial root to me which could pop out like that even if not root bound. Beautiful specimen!

Thank you! I lucked out at the nursery. 💚 couldn’t leave it there. ☺️ I’ve watched the leaf unfurl and I swear it’s expanding. It’s been so entertaining in the short time I’ve had it.

Such a great find! I found a ring of fire philodendron at my local nursery for twenty bucks! Good luck with that pretty baby!

You have to remove the pot to determine if it’s root bound. One root sticking out does not mean it needs repotting. That root could be getting drained water sitting in the outer pot.

If you think it’s a good potting medium then I’d leave it in there for sure. As long as it’s growing you’re golden.

If you think it’s a poor potting medium then I’d still give it a few weeks to let it adjust before swapping out for a chunky mix. Unless it’s very root-bound I’d put it back in the same pot. Just with a different medium.

And congrats! She’s a stunner!
