# Any plant pairing recommendations for this gasteria? I just repotted…

_Posted by Celesta on 2026-06-20_

Any plant pairing recommendations for this gasteria? I just repotted him to this massive yellow pot, using succulent indoor soil mix. But I would love to add a second succulent to the same pot, preferably something that hangs, to justify the size of the pot. If it hangs over front, it will somewhat hide the blaring yellowness of it. 😆

(From the angle of this photo, the pot doesn't look like too big. But trust me, it is huge 🫣)

I just assembled a gasteria arrangement a couple days ago. I planned on using a trailing crassula cutting but it wasn’t large enough. Replaced it with a rice cactus which I like even better. It’s not a true cactus and has same needs as the gasteria. The cactus drapes over the edge.

Yesterday we made a succulent arrangement with a string of rubies draping down the side of the pot. ☺️

I was thinking something along these lines! Glad to know it works 😃

Forgot to say, I pair gasteria with haworthia and sansevieria.

I’m curious why you named it Gaston!

Lol... 😶 It was the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the name "gasteria." I was raised on all the old Disney movies, so I got Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. 😅

Me too! I’m a 90’s baby! I love it!
