LOOKING FOR ADVICES ON PLANT RECOVERY

Just got this poor paradise bird from a second-hand seller and the buddy doesn’t seem very happy :(

Gonna do whatever Planta suggests but meanwhile very concerned about her situation. So just would like to ask if anyone have any advices/recommendations about how to take better care of her

Looks pretty dry and crispy. I wouldn’t put it in direct sunlight, and drown it (lol not literally)

Thank you! I will make sure to avoid those!

Despite the crispy edges, I actually think this plant looks really good/healthy. The leaves are perky and the color looks good. No yellowing

I have mine in an east-facing window, so it gets direct sun in the morning.

These guys also like being a bit root-bound because they don’t like their soil staying wet. I made the mistake of putting in a large pot at first, and it looked a bit sad. Then switched to a smaller pot (the roots are almost touching the outside of the pot, but still have some room to grow) with roughly half soil, half perlite, and it’s been pretty happy!

If you want to trim off the damaged leaves, do it gradually. Trim off 1 or 2, then wait for the plant to grow a new one before trimming again

Something that people don’t usually know about these guys - it’s normal for the leaves to split. This allows for better airflow and for lower leaves to receive sunlight

Thank you so so much for such detailed advices!

I would say move it to a slightly bigger pot, but not big enough that the roots have too much room, and maybe a bit of watering but otherwise it looks fairly healthy! best of luck to you, im sure it’ll heal up nicely with time
