It’s a Star of Bethlehem, right? My first tip would be to try to use a process of elimination to rule out what can’t be the problem and what can, then check for what’s possible
1\. How often do you water it? And do you let the top layer of the soil dry out before you water it again?
2\. Is the soil well draining or does it stay wet for a while, not drain well, or is it very compacted? (Also what brand did you use? If you used miracle grow all-purpose potting mix, I can explain what’s happening to the plant)
3\. Is it getting enough humidity? It needs to be misted every once in a while, but that’s not very effective with actually increasing the humidity for a plant. If you think it might be humidity, I can tell you how to make a humidity tray to help. Otherwise, you might wanna try sticking your Star outside and let natural summer humidity do the work for you.
4\. Pests. The app suggests that thrips could be an issue, in which case, check the leaves, underside of the leaves, stems, and soil for any bugs. I can tell you what to do if you find any
5\. This one might sound a bit strange if you’re new to plants, but do you use tap water or distilled water to water your plant? That might sound really picky, but some plants will go from being perfectly fine to dying on you depending on the type of water you use, especially if they’re sensitive to lime or a certain PH change.

My last one if none of those seem to be the problem, and really just to err on the side of caution, would be to check the roots for any rot. If the roots are dark in color, mushy, and not light and firm, it’s root rot, which I’ve dealt with before and can walk you through. Essentially you’ll need to chop off the rotted roots, soak the roots in a hydrogen peroxide solution (peroxide and water) for about 30 minutes, rinse it off with water, dry the roots, then repot it again in some new, dry soil.

i water it as much as this app tells me to LOL, nd yeah it’s a star of Bethlehem, i feel like the water drains well, it doesn’t deep out to the bottom so i think i water it okay, humidity wise is where i get confused bc do i have to mist it nd water it at the same time?, i might stick it outside like you said, not sure tho. i’ll check if there’s root rot when i get back home. thank you for your responses!!!

No problem! In terms of humidity, yes, if you don’t live in a naturally humid climate like where the plant is from (i.e. not a beautiful tropical island or South America), they might need a humidity tray. Essentially you fill a tray with rocks, place the rocks and tray under your plant, then add water to the tray, making sure it’s not so much water that the water touches the bottom of the pot. Refill it with water when the water evaporates. Again though, if you don’t wanna do a tray, putting the plant outside should easily sold the humidity issue. Just remember you’ll have to check it for pests and gradually prepare it to come back inside in the winter.
As for watering a soil, you want the water to drain from the pot. If it’s not draining from the drainage holes in the bottom, the soil might not be well draining enough or might be too compacted. I use a wooden skewer or chopsticks to poke holes deep in the soil, avoiding the roots, to aerate the soil and help the plant drain better by drying out faster and get more oxygen to the roots. You also might wanna consider investing in a different soil mixture. Not to sound picky but anything miracle grow brand in my experience is an absolute plant killer. It keeps the soil moist for way too long. I’m talking the soil stayed moist for 2 WEEKS and it was their succulent mix that I added extra perlite to. 2 weeks. If you wanna try another brand that what you’re currently trying, I highly suggest Espoma’s Organic All-Purpose potting mix, and if you want the soil everyone on this app seems to rave about (…and the employees at every nursery I’ve gone to, so they’re probably onto something), you can try Foxfarm’s Organic Ocean Soil All-Purpose potting mix.
