I’ve read… _Gepostet von Adrian am 2024-07-07_ Calling on ficus elastica/rubber plant owners for this one! I’ve read that the sap can be toxic to those with latex allergies, but I do not have one. However, I’ve also read that it can still be an irritant to some. There was a great sale on two variegated rubber plants at my local shop, but I don’t wanna grab them before I confirm if they’re safe. Any answers on if people have to wear gloves when handling this or not would be greatly appreciated! I do not have a latex allergy but do have eczema and fairly sensitive skin #### Adrian antwortete am 2024-07-08 Thanks so much for responding! That’s good to hear! I’m hoping it’s safe as long as I don’t have the allergy, but I wanted to confirm with those that have one. Do you wear gloves when working with yours? #### Kades antwortete am 2024-07-08 I haven’t ever worn gloves when messing with it. I think if you’re worried you could wear long sleeves and gloves and be pretty safe! ### max kommentierte am 2024-07-08 i’ve never had any issues handling mine without gloves. people with latex allergies are EXTREMELY sensitive to lots of things that are only a little bit related to it. if you have a latex allergy i would recommend wearing gloves (although you’d probably be fine when watering it), but otherwise i wouldn’t worry about it! #### Adrian antwortete am 2024-07-08 Thanks! Not sure if she’s a ficus elastica “ruby” or “belize”, though. My local pet store sells them along with a lot of tropical plants for reptile and amphibian enclosures.
