A couple of years ago, I had 97 plants (including cuttings) in my 42 sqm apartment. That worked out to about 2.3 plants per sqm, all fighting for light from just two windows and a balcony door.

Now I’m curious: what’s your plant-per-sqm today?

These days, after moving to a bigger home, battling thrips infestations, swapping many of my indoor plants for a garden, and adding kids into the mix, I’m at just 0.28 houseplants per sqm!

I'm at 0.37/sqm... Provided we ignore all the plants I don't have listed 🤦🤣 but many of my plants are small, so my home doesn't look particularly plant-y yet! Next year, I expect to be overwhelmed haha.

That sounds like a great number of plants! Imagine them growing larger. It’s going to become a jungle for sure!

No worries! I was too focused on metric system. Sqm is square meters. You’re welcome to use sq ft if you’d like 💚

Wow do i feel like an idiot. I wouldn't know how to measure all my plants even in sq ft. 😅🙈🙈🙈 It's been a very long time since i was in college!

Don’t! How often have you came across counting amount of plants per area? 😂  
Here’s how to count: take the total number of plants and divide it with the sqm or sq ft of your home. 💚

Most of my plants are in two small areas in my house that get better light, but in those spots it works out to around 2 plants per square feet. that's 21.5 plants per sqm (i forget the overall size of my house since it's weird about that)

I did the math and I'm at 0.52 plants per square meter. So not bad!
