Millipede maybe?

I would agree with the above comment! I bought a plant at the store that was full of them. If it wasn’t for the fact that I really liked my new plant, I almost chucked it in the snow at the time.

Soil can easily contain eggs and it’s the perfect environment for them to hatch.

I think they are millipedes or centipedes. I would repot asap so the bugs don’t spread or hurt your plant.

Yes, they are millipedes, and they will not hurt your plants. I took a picture of your picture, and received an answer back from Harvard niversity, so you could read it. Hope this helps! K

PS. My bad… It was Iowa State University, not Harvard! I tried to edit the comment, but as frequently happens, Planta was not in the mood to let me do it…🙄!

Just to share my experience with millipedes, while they won’t harm your plants and are beneficial, I’ve found they multiply very quickly. And they spread to other plants relatively quickly as well. I think in nature, they are preyed upon by many animals. In a house, they have no predators. I got tired of seeing them all over the place and started picking them out of the soil. No problem ever since.

Those look to be flat backed millipedes of some sort. While they're no big deal, i can understand not wanting them indoors. They aren't affected by most pesticides, so physically removing them is the best method. Take the plant outside, tap something against the pot harshly several times, then smack the pot against the ground a few times. Give any smart millipedes a moment to leave on their own, then repot and replace all the soil. To prevent millipedes from moving in later, remove any decaying plant material, increase air flow to dry things out between watering sessions, and try to avoid making any narrow damp spaces they'd like to hide in. Using pot feet can remove the hiding spot directly under pots

Also avoid overwatering (that soil looks a bit muddy) and ensure soil has proper drainage (it'll precent root rot too)

Great answer!
