# I am trying to propagate this tree. It loves water but not wet feet…

_Posted by Jade on 2025-04-26_

I am trying to propagate this tree. It loves water but not wet feet and sunlight, but it’s starting to grow algae. I have it in a 50%potting soil 25% orchid bark and 25% perlite.
What do I do? Am I doing something wrong?

Also, any tips or tricks for this Frangipani are greatly appreciated

Beautiful plumeria flowers! Reminds me of Hawaii. I hope it works for you! Have you googled or YouTubed it?

The algae is from light entering the clear pots. It shouldn’t hurt the plants.

Algae wont affect the plant. But can show that theres lots of water present. Keep an eye on them, they love a spider mite 🥲. I lost 1 of mine to too much water too.

Light + see through pots + water = algae :) (it won’t hert the beautiful plantie)

Sorry this is late. Sounds like you’re doing everything correctly in the way of soil, water, and sunlight ratios.

The only thing i might suggest is transferring the plant from its current plastic container to a terracotta or “breathable” pot.

Terracotta pots work much better. The success rate is much higher than plastic pots.
