The app is saying to prune back 1/3 on my Gaura lindheimeri. I’m not sure if I should. It hasn’t had any blooms for about a week now and there aren’t any new shoots. What do I do?

:( if it’s brown and it snaps when you bend it, it’s dead branching. Sometimes, you gotta get rid of the used up branching for new growth to fill in. Gaura is one of those that you have to restart every year. Essentially chopping off half of the plant. They flower on new branching only so if it didn’t make any new branches, it won’t make as many flowers.
