# I want to see if this plane can be saved. It was let dry out too much…

_Publié par Olivia le 2025-09-11_

I want to see if this plane can be saved. It was let dry out too much I think.
I’m thinking some of the leaves need to be removed. Where do I cut ? First time with this plant.
The last pic is how it looked

Thanks for any advice

I actually wouldn't cut the leaves. None of them look terrible to me; I've saved marantas that look worse than this!

I would pull it out of the pot and take a look at the roots, just to make sure there's no rot and the plant is in the right size pot (should be about an inch bigger than the plant's root ball).
After that, I would pot in fresh soil\* and try to stay on top of the watering schedule better (but the plants I've saved were also in that condition because I was dealing with life so I know that's easier said than done!)

\*The soil it's in is more than likely hydrophobic if it's been left to sit without water for too long. I prefer replanting instead of trying to rehydrate the dried out stuff, but you do have the option of saving your current soil if you'd prefer!

Soil feels moist

Plus, is there drainage holes in that pot? You might want to consider putting the plant into a plastic pot and using that one as a cover pot if there are no drainage holes in that one.

There is Four holes in the pot. I had my husband do them

My prayer plants love to stay moist, not soggy or wet and definitely never dried out. You might just need to repot in new soil.
