Crotons will grow nicely if you keep the roots moist and don't move them. Just keep in the same spot with very bright light.. The rule “you don’t need to buy one” I have just gotten into the plant life and I have just been sticking to asking friends for trades or cutting of their plants! You can repot your plant whenever YOU feel like it lol just be careful not to damage any roots and not go to big.
