Just received my first African violet baby, I can’t wait to see the progress and growth of Iris (that’s her name like the goddess she is). Any tips for the first of arrival? I’m not repotting anytime soon.

Thank you! I’m seeing 7-10 days before the first water and I heard they bottom water

I ordered her on Amazon from a small business up North ( I live in Florida ) they shipped her with great care!

Lowe’s has them right now for $4.88

Might look into getting another for that price. I just don’t trust Lowe’s and Home Depot with certain things

I would highly recommend getting a specialized African violet pot if you can, I find them super worth it. Because the water is covered by the ceramic dish that sits in the main water bowl it, it won’t evaporate and the unglazed ceramic absorbs water into the soil at the perfect rate for them. I’ve only been able to keep them alive in those pots. It’s not a requirement, but if you are worried I’d recommend it. Not my photo, but this clear one shows it well.
