Tomatoes seeds are typically planted indoors in seedling pots in late winter to get the plants ready for spring planting. This gives the plants time to reach maturity and get more crop in the growing season. You just bury about 2/3 of the tomato stem in a pot or in the ground. Roots grow fast from the buried stem. This helps the plant grow faster.
