# Does anyone know how I can keep my hanging ferns lush, green and…

Does anyone know how I can keep my hanging ferns lush, green and healthy through the (super hot and humid) summer months?
I have them on a drip system and this year have been using trays so they can bottom water. Right about this time of year they start to tank, getting brown leaves and will eventually be all yellow.
I know they are root bound, as is always the case with my hanging ferns but is this the cause? Regular fertilizer doesn’t seem to help.
I live in zone 8b, they are on my front porch which faces north.
Is there anything I can do besides move or repot them? Thanks in advance!

Not a fern expert but I’ve seen on Pinterest a lot of people touting this trick, it’s worth a shot and Id also say that you’d probably have to water your ferns daily in this heat and being that they are root bound

You can remove the bottom drainage saucer, shove a wick up the bottom of the pot, and then place it in a pot without drainage with enough space below the plant so you can fill it with water and let it have a reservoir to drink from then hang that pot back up.
