# this has been my family’s “dump the extra water on it” plant since we…

this has been my family’s “dump the extra water on it” plant since we got it about 4 years ago. never fertilized/repotted/staked anything. today i took a look at it and realized it was in a pot with no drainage and sitting water, so i took it out, only to realize it’s actually 3 separate plants of 2 different types. my plant scanner says the left one is a lucky bamboo and the right one is a corn plant. i cleaned them off and popped them in two glass jars with water in them. the roots look/feel good, no mushy or shriveled bits, but the leaves obviously have some spots on them. i guess my questions are this:

1\. are these the correct names?
2\. i know lucky bamboo can stay in water for a while, but what about corn plants? i’ll put them in soil and pots soon, but i’d like to leave them in the water for a couple weeks if possible.

i’d appreciate any advice y’all have!

I have a Dracaena like that that I have planted in a mix of soil/ orchid mix/ perlite and it seems to be very happy!! All of your plants look pretty happy in the water though, honestly. Good job on separating them out 🥰🌱

Oh I am not an expert at all. Every plant is different. My bamboo are in water too! I have rocks in there for stability and they seem happy.
