Question… I’ve looked stuff up a bit but still not sure; can a high humidity plant survive in a bathroom without light all of the time? Would having the bathroom light on help if it’s not a grow light or should the plant be taken out sometimes for natural light? Or should it just stay in the natural light?

No plant can survive without light. Artificial light can help some, but without a proper grow light or sunlight you're dooming that plant to a slow death. Just get a fake plant to put in there

Ah okay! That’s what I was wondering ty

I would replace all of the lights in the bathroom with good grow lights if you’re really committed to having a plant there. Alternatively if you want that plant feel without the maintenance you can hang dried herbs and plants like eucalyptus and lavender or put them in a vase or something.

The grow lights need to be within 1 foot of the plant to be effective. Ceiling and wall light fixtures are usually too far from plants.

Is it at all helpful to have them just in case? Like maybe the effect is small but would it be beneficial in the slightest?

It would really just be like giving a starving person 1 chip. I understand since plants don't make noise, people don't often look at them as living things, but they are. And grow lights too far away just slightly stave off the inevitable as the plant slowly starves to death not being able to properly photosynthesis.

I’ve been thinking about replacing the bulbs in my room (which already gets a medium amount of light but only has one window) just to give my plants a little extra light, is that a bad idea?

You'd be better off getting a hanging or clip on grow light you can get closer to them. It'd kinda just be wasting money if you put them in the ceiling mounts. Plants can get some benefits from grow lights further than 1', but id say it'd top out at 3' and that only with a pretty strong growlight, which most screw in bulbs are not very strong, much less past that 8-12"

A few artificial plants I purchased at Hobby Lobby. The rest of my 20+ are real. I use grow lights as well. I just liked these and a couple of them real plants didn’t grow well in the spots. Good luck!!

You could do grow lights that clip onto the plant pots, or replace a cieling bulb with a grow light and do a plant that can handle lower light conditions (so like aim it directly at a shade tolerant fern that's like 4 feet away.) If the plant is getting enough light to survive well, you should see new growth on a regular basis

I have a new plan with a plant for it to come to the bathroom with me for a couple showers a week for the humidity, otherwise it’s in a room with some good sun. Do you want the plant in the bathroom always? Or were you bringing it in there for the humidity?
