I have several plants whose leaf tips easily turn brown. I’m wondering if a self watering pot will help with this problem. Can anyone recommend a favorite self watering pot? I am looking for a pot that is about 6 inches in diameter. TIA…🤗💚🪴

I like this style with the water measure. I have 2 from Lechuza Pon (super over priced \*cough cough\*), these work just the same

I also like these, cuz shiny!!! The basket allows for good root aeration, and you can either fill with water up to the insert, or buy some cheap plant wick off Amazon the hang through it. She also has some other cool self watering pots. Propagation Diaries

I have plants with brown tips. Self watering pots haven’t helped me

Hmmmm… and I thought those pots would be the answer to my problem! Any ideas that have helped you with the tips of leaves that have turned brown? TIA…

Pebble trays work for me

Lots of brown tips on several plants indicates under watering, low lighting or possibly low humidity. Self watering pots can lead to root rot on plants that can’t survive in continuously wet soil.

Try increasing the humidity levels and add grow lights if needed.

Water as soon as the soil drys since waiting too long can cause brown tips.

Do not follow a strict watering schedule. They can kill off your plants if you don’t verify the plants actually need water. Check plants for dryness when they droop slightly or at least once every 5 days to 6 days for small pots. 🍀🪴

While I do love self-watering pots for some plants, I find that when my plants get crispy edges it’s always due to lack of humidity

This is what you need.

Don’t I wish, and… you must be joking! That is a fantastic set up, and one I would love to have, but, sadly, that is just not feasible; first of all, I’d have to start with a bigger house. I love all the light your plants have, and I love the two giant humidifiers; no wonder you have such gorgeous plants! I would like to see a few pics of the entire set up, so I could just peruse the many plants you have, and drool… ???

PS. What is your favorite small and showy plant, or two, that you would recommend for someone wanting to add to their collection? TIA…

Not very showy. In fact more of a plain Jane. But this is my peperomia frost that I’ve had for several years and has been divided several times to keep a smaller size. It has always been one of my favorite plants.

Thank you. I’ll try to take a couple pics.

It is definitely a pretty plant; it’s going on my wish list, for sure! If you have a moment, can you tell me a bit about it? Also, when you divide a plant, what do you do with your baby plants? I wish there were some way that Planta members could share their props. I have several plants that do nothing but pop out babies, and I just have to repot them, and raise another generation; I can’t bear to toss them out! Sometimes though, I’m like the old lady in the shoe… I have so many babies, I don’t know what to do… 😵‍💫!
