Wanted to share a fun setup!

I asked last week about my son wanting a plant in his room - it’s a basement room, the blind is rarely open, and when it is, it’s a small north-facing window under the deck. So clearly not enough light 😅

So, my 6yo and I came up with a cute setup! I remembered he had a kind of terrarium meant to grow chia seeds as an experiment and it came with a lamp in the cover. So we repurposed it, and built a Lego support so it could be above his little spider plant! 😊

Adding that I’m not expecting that plant to fully thrive - keeping it happy enough to live so my son can enjoy it is the goal 😊

Innovative and colorful!😍
The pot may be too big for that size plant. Plants have to use up all the water in the soil or the roots will sit in water and rot. A pot about half that size or smaller is a better fit. The pot should be just slightly bigger than the root ball. My spider plant in a 6 inch pot has over 13 plants in it. They use up all the water within 5 days after watering.

I know, i just picked 3 babies from my various spider plant varieties and used a pot I had 😅 hopefully it’ll survive enough to fill the roots over time! We’ll be careful not to water too often 😊

That is a Blue Ribbon Winner for style, functionality, repurposing/recycling, and fun design!

If anyone says otherwise send them to me.

Hello,

I see the comments about pot size. I think the pot is fine. Now I’m a killer of plants that do not need a lot of water, and it’s always because of the wrong soil and pot combo.

I believe as long as the water has drained out then your pot for a spider plant is just fine. Heck they grow in water.
