I have this white grease-like residue on my spider plant, does anyone know what this is and how to treat it?

It looks like it might be mealybugs. I’m not an expert on treating though.

treatment i believe is neem oil or spraying/rubbing down the leaves with isopropl alchohol.  
im dont know how much to dilute the liquids, but i think a quick google search would help.
