# I just got this Silver Inch Plant today. I was reading that they…

_Geplaatst door SonjaNA op 2024-05-26_

I just got this Silver Inch Plant today. I was reading that they prefer a compact pot, and he seems to be thriving in his current condition. So I wasn’t sure if I should repot him into a slightly larger pot or not? He does appear to have some whispy roots coming out of the bottom but nothing too wild. I just want him to live his best life so any advice would be great, thank you!

I would pull it out of its pot and see how rootbound it is. I’ve learned from experience that these actually get rootbound really easily , and they don’t like it. If it is rootbound, I would go up about 2 inches in pot size.

I checked and it doesn’t appear to be root bound yet. Thank you!

It looks lush and healthy. No need to repot it. One root coming out the bottom is not a definitive sign to repot. I would repot when the plant looks like it has issues and excessive roots are the only cause. Tradescantias can stay in the same pot for years if they are happy.

Ok this was along the lines of what I was thinking because it was so wispy but figured I would get some other opinions first. Thank you!
