# So I want to repot this plant ! But I also need to water her today,…

_Posted by Bri on 2024-06-08_

So I want to repot this plant ! But I also need to water her today, she’s in a 4 in with no drainage and I’ve been waiting to repot her because she was freshly potted when I got her. My question is do I wait or just go for it ? I’m terrified of taking her out or disturbing her 😅

How long is the plant ? You could always carefully remove her from the container she’s in and check out the root ball and see if it’s needing a size up. Also, string plants are tricky to repot because they’re so delicate so don’t be sad if you lose a leaf or two or three . You can always propagate with them! When I repot my string of pearls there’s always a few pears that escape . Sometimes a string breaks too, luckily it’s easy to turn those strings into new plants! YouTube helped me a lot, hope this helps too :)

That’s what I’m afraid of ! Lol losing any leaves or anything really 🤣 my last string of hearts didn’t do so hot 😅 the strings are like 5-7 inches ? Also have this little ball thing hanging out here lol don’t know what it is

That is a korm! Stimulates new growth, so your plant is probably pretty healthy, however it looks verrry thirsty… I wouldn’t be so afraid of loosing the leaves bc at this point, some of those are going to fall off whether you repot or not. I would go ahead and just repot her today and give her a good water! Make sure to only upsize 1-2 inches and the pot should be very shallow for string of hearts so the soil can dry out more quickly bc they don’t like to stay moist for too long

She does need a good drink ! Lol I’m supposed to water her today for sure I’ll most likely repot I’m just extremely scared. I kept watering her on the lesser side because I was afraid of overwatering especially with no drainage. Should I water today and wait to repot on another day ?

Also the korm should I leave it in the pot ?

Remove it and carefully repot as soon as possible in a pot with drainage. A 4 inch wide pot should be a good size for that size plant. More exposed top soil will allow excess water to evaporate.

Water thoroughly since it’s under watered. Fertilize and provide bright indirect light to encourage growth. 🍀🪴

Thank you bunches ! 🪴 is a 5 inch too big do you think ?

#### Sunny replied on 2024-06-09

Check the width of the root ball. It’s ok to use a 5 inch pot if the root ball is 3” or 4” wide.

#### Bri replied on 2024-06-09

Awesome thanks ! If it isn’t is it ok to put it in a 4 in plastic pot ? Wider up top than the one it’s in now

#### Sunny replied on 2024-06-09

Yes. Just leave a little room around the roots for them to grow.

Thank you ! I went with a 4 inch terracotta 🥹
