So I recently bought an albo from a store on Etsy with fabulous reviews, the Instructions were to place the cutting in water and change water every 2 days. I’ve been doing that and just noticed the black Rot on the bottom. What can I do to save this??

I hate being the bearer of bad news but once the root has started to
rot, they’re extremely hard to save. This looks like the rot has progressed. Did you submerge the whole piece? I usually only put the root in water.

No, just the root was submerged. I received 2 medium variegated ones as well and they’re doing great. This is the only one with rot 😩

Okay, take a clean sharp knife and cut away the rot, continue to cut the rot away till you see no brown, you really want to try save that node there in the middle of curve, after you cut away the rot, leave the areas to callous over, in the meantime buy some sphagnum moss (garden centres sometimes have it) and a plastic tub, lay the moist moss in the bottom of the and submerge the node a little bit into it and hopefully it will regrow roots.

Trim off the rotten part until there is no rotted tissue left. Spray it with 3% hydrogen peroxide let it callous over for how ever long it’ll take to dry out. Sometimes it’s one day sometimes it’s three depending on how thick the stem is. Then you can retry.
