Am I propagating these the right way? What lighting does this need? Should I keep the soil wet?

Don’t keep the soil too wet for the pads, let it dry out like a cactus and then mist it. As for the one on the stem, you can wait for it to callous at the bottom then plant it in well draining cactus soil to propagate, use root stimulator for best results

Also, the pads should be facing down, the curved side facing the soil so that the bottom is touching the soil

First step is to let the bottoms dry out and callus over. Then you can lay them in the soil just like you did and keep the soil moist by misting it only. I keep mine under a grow light under a dome that holds the moisture in! You can leave the leaves as is and they could still sprout. Mine is just a tiny thing!

Consider putting them in a much shorter pot or flat tray, plastic take-out tray, or similar to get adequate air circulation around the soil so it can dry faster.

But you don’t want to soil to be drying out while trying to propagate. You actually want to keep the environment humid if possible. I have kept mine constantly moist from spritzing and the dome and it’s working fantastically!

Set it and forget it. Mist it 2 to 3 times a week and leave it alone. It takes patience and many weeks to get a decent size plant.
