Hi! 👋 I am thinking of starting with an outdoor, potted plant (oh, and I reside in California). But, I have no idea what plant to start with especially because I am an absolute beginner. I have no idea where to start. Does anyone recommend a plant I should try out and maybe any sources you may have used to help you get started? I would love to read about it. Any tips welcomed. ☺️

get yourself a peach or apricot tree! they love california and the fruit tastes even better when you've grown it yourself.

Thanks for the idea! I do like peaches. But are peach trees big and able to be in a pot? Or, am I able to have a small peach tree?

they make dwarf varieties! at largest they'll want a 5gal pot and they get about 4ft tall with yearly pruning.

Thanks! I will look more into it to see if it will become my first planting experience.

Take a look at the bird of paradise. I have one in house in Vegas so l’m sure it will love Cali. Besides they are every where outdoors in Cali.

I’d say choose the plant based off your location in CA! I used to live up in San B county and it was hard growing grass but when you go to the OC or LA county, it was nice and green!
