I just got this plant and I’m not sure how to help it. It’s a dieffenbachia. I keep it on my window sill and water it once a week.  
How can I keep it alive and healthy?

I would definitely move it off of the windowsill. Indirect light is best for this one, I noticed my leaves will burn if too direct. I also noticed mine needs moisture but not wet! Once a week may be too much.  
How wet is the soil? How deep are you checking the soil to know to water?

How’s the humidity. I have a dieffenbachia and I’ve recently been putting it in a room with higher humidity then the rest of the house

Also from the research on this I’ve done they don’t like humidity higher than 70%

Yea, I have noticed mine got burnt from to much sun. But also, make sure the top of the soil is dry before watering, I also have mine in a room with slightly more humidity.
