# Hello, Bought this Monstera a few months back and it’s thriving and…

_Publié par Zee le 2024-11-05_

Hello,
Bought this Monstera a few months back and it’s thriving and now it’s growing a new leaf as well 🤞 but everytime I see it I think it needs repotting, I’m scared to repot it as it’s clearly root bound and I’ve read not to repot during fall or winter months. Please guide.

Ooh! Nice!
It should be okay until Spring, but if she starts to suffer, like too many leaves get yellow or you have to water her like every couple days, then I’d repot. But only into a pot that about an inch bigger. That should hold her well until Spring.

Curious why you’re not supposed to repot them in the fall or winter?

Because typically in winter the soil stays wet longer due to the colder temps, so the more soil around your roots, the longer your plant stays wet, the more likely that it will develop root rot.
I’ve actually repotted smaller for a few of my plants as winter approached because even in the summer it just took forever for the soil to dry out. Or I’ve switched them into terra cotta, which seems to help with drying out the soil in decent time.
