My roommate bought this at Costco last year and it suddenly decided to bloom. I think it’s a bromeliad so that means it’s on its way out? Not a bromeliad person so let me know if I’m wrong!

They bloom once lasting a while. Then the plant if healthy will produce pups that you can transplant to create new plants.

Nope! Not a bromeliad - it’s a type of lily!

A natal lily I believe!

Note - please be careful if you have any cats or dogs, every part of this plant is extremely extremely toxic to them

Thank you! I’ll mention this to them

Lucky!! My bromeliad didn’t survive the winter 😩

It’s definitely a Clivia (natal, bush) lily. It’s part of the amaryllis family and not a bromeliad. I had one many years ago that died from too much parental love when I went off to school. 😄
