Hi everyone,
I’m very much a beginner when it comes to owning plants. I have a Japanese Aralia. It’s not grown at all since buying it at the beginning of June. It’s also produced a yellow leaf and has some cracks in some of the leaves too. I’ve attached pics of all of this and the roots. Does it need repotting? Or is this normal?

Any help is much appreciated:)

The bottom of your pot looks normal. You don’t even have any roots sticking out. You have to remove the pot and look at all of the root system to determine a root bound condition. Roots sticking out of the bottom can mean there is standing water in the bottom tray and the roots found it. It does not necessarily mean it’s root bound like in my photo.

The yellow leaf looks like an older starter leaf that’s dying off since it’s one close to the soil. This is normal.

The crack could be mechanical damage from handling or a humidity issue. The rest of the leaves look fine in the photo. I don’t think it’s humidity. 🍀🪴
