I got this monstera a few days ago, when I received it I checked the soil for pests and roots looked healthy (but I didn’t do a deep check). I have kept it as isolated as possible from my other plants just to be cautious. It doesn’t seem to have any pests and I’ve also kept it with a grow light for 12 hrs a day, I haven’t watered since I got her on Monday since the soil was very wet (still is). This is my first ever monstera so I have no clue what I’m doing. Not sure if this is a plant that likes snug roots or it this is even considered snug roots lol
First two pictures are from day 1(only one leaf was yellowing).
Last two are from today.
Not sure if I should repot or just change out the soil entirely since it’s “packed” and still wet.

If your not seeing pests, it could be over watered, if it's still damp from mon. It looks like it needs a chunkier mix and a larger pot. With the roots on the bottom like that, it can cause them to stay too wet.

Thanks! I was thinking that might be it but I didn’t want to stress it out by repotting before knowing for sure since some plants like a snug fit.

I would repot in a chunky mix adding orchid bark and chunky perlite. They like aeration around their roots

Going to try doing that. Thanks!

Do what Amie said, a chunky mix is pretty much - pine bark, perlite, small amount of houseplant compost (by from a trusted place online as a lot of the ones at the store contain pests) or use tree fern fibre. Also, wash the whole plant when it ur repotting (so if there’s any hidden pests on the roots or anywhere else it’ll flush them).

I’d also cut off the small really yellow leaf.

I don’t have pine bark but I do have orchid bark, perlite \& some compost. I usually fertilize all my plants with every watering. Do you think I should still do that when I repot or would that stress it out unnecessarily since it already has yellowing leaves.

Add a lil bit of fert not a lot, and orchid bark will work fine ^^
