Yes unfortunately, you want to only go at most 2 inches from the root ball size

Should I plant it up more in my soil mix as you can see this planter is small

Hi… just saw your post. Wanted you to see this monster—just hit 3 feet 9 inches! Thankfully, the base is heavy enough to prevent it from tipping over. Something tells me, though, that that won’t be a forever thing.

Funny story…I’d left it outdoors for a bit too long, and it got drenched. In time, it had bent itself all the way over, at a 90° right angle(!)

I brought it indoors, and, using an array of supports and wire lifts, got it standing \*mostly\* up straight once again. I love how it just kept on keeping on, and its brownish scar tissue reminds me to look after it with some extra TLC…!
