I always have a designated window in my house for quarantine. Pest treat when they get home and monitor for a month before adding to the rest of my collection! Look for signs of thrips, mealy bugs, scale, spider mites etc. and add beneficial nematodes to combat pests

I actually repot as soon as I bring them in, get a good look at the roots that way, and wash down the entire plant and leaves and repot into my own mix and planter. Then leave it, like Hannah does, on a windowsill away from other plants

I unbox, check the plant over for pests or fungal/bacterial. Then I spray it down, soak the media with pest/miticide and let it sit for 30-60 mins. Then rinse off and pit in QT. If you can't put in QT pop it in a plastic bag, if it's tropical. I don't generally have to repot cacti or succs. They also often come bare root. If i suspect pests ill repot. or a plant comes in Coir or with lots coco chips (you can ask if they buffer) , I will generally repot the first day. If you don't the plant will often decline.

I always inspect everything but I got stackable acrylic boxes from Amazon and I put every new plant in there. I spray with a mixture of water and unscented Castile soap and I do that a several times for a couple weeks. Once they’ve acclimated to the environment I re-pot with my soil and I inspect the media and roots well. I’ve only ever had spider mites and one caterpillar because my plants don’t go outside at all but there’s several ways to organically or chemically deal with pests and soil mold. I usually go the organic route. I use mosquito bits in my watering can in the warmer months for fungus gnats and I also have zeevo plug ins on top of it and it’s been a game changer for that.
