hello! new here, i have some concerns with my snake plant. recently i repotted but before i did, the middle stand started to separate. i've only had it a year \& it's still new to me. also, the browning on the end of the leaves. i did have it in sunlight, moved to my bedroom due to getting cats \& they were messing with all my plants, but with this one - what should i do?

My cats shredded mine at the tips but it recovered pretty fast. I kept it out of direct sun. Good luck!

Ooh also I think they don't like to be over watered... Snake plants definitely benefit from benign neglect. Its pot might be a little too big, depending on the size of the root situation.

oh yes i learned that when i killed my sisters lol. i was thinking the pot may be to big but it was the only open one i had at the time of repotting everything! i will def keep it out of sunlight \& water less.

The brown tip is probably from being in the sun without being acclimated to it. The soil looks wrong for a snake plant. They are succulents and need high grit, fast draining soil. Soil needs to be totally dry before thoroughly watering until water exits the drain hole. Sansevieria can be acclimated to morning sun. People say they do well in low light. No, they do not. They may kinda live but will not thrive. Not sure I really answered your question but hopefully I helped with how to care for them. I have several sansevieria. Pic is just a few.

i'll have to check what soil i have, it's the same in all my pots - but if i have to change it for this one particularly, i most def will. i don't want to lose my plant, they've become my other children lol.

that does help! i did have it in the sun, but like i said the cats where getting my other ones \& i didn't want them going to the bathroom in my plants either.

what soil do you recommend mostly for snake plants?

You need to add “grit” to your regular potting soil. It can be something as cheap as perlite. Look up “diy succulent soil” online. You’ll probably fine several recipes. Pick the one for your supplies and budget. I use a product called Jacks Gritty Mix. It’s well known. I mix that with regular potting soil. Ratio depends on plant. For sansevieria I would do 1 to 1. It’s available at Amazon but cheaper if you buy directly.
