# Can we talk about repotting? I’m pretty sure this lovely needs to be…

Can we talk about repotting? I’m pretty sure this lovely needs to be repotted and I’m just dreading it. I’m thinking she’s been in this pot about 5 years (?) and is thriving. But also water runs through it. It is a glazed ceramic pot and I’m afraid it’s going to be really hard to do this and keep the pot intact. Any advice?

Beautiful plant!! I have heard of people cutting around the edge of the pot (literally with a knife) to loosen roots around the edge and make it come out easier. Or you could try just loosening the soil by poking it with sticks Etc. good luck!!

It’s looks great. It doesn’t look like it needs repotting. But, I understand your concern. I have had an oxalis in a similarly shaped ceramic pot for many years with a lot less foliage. I can’t get the soil out without cracking open the pot. So, left it. You might have to crack open the pot to reduce the damage to the leaves. Just laying it on the side will cause leaf damage. Prying the plant out while keeping an intact pot will add further damage. It’s a hard choice. 🪴🍀

Is it possible to just remove some of the soil around it? And add new soil there?
