Does anyone know which way i should plant these yams? should i detach the sprouted part?

Usually for a potato, I would slice off a piece, let it “scab over” for a couple of days before planting and then stick it in the ground, so I’d do the same here. I just checked and reviews are mixed where you need to “hill” yams.
