I bought a new spider plant and feel like a lot of leaves on the bottom have been dying and noticed a spider plant baby’s stem turning brown. Can I cut/trim the leaves to give more space for healthier leaves and babies?

Cutting the leaves is possible. But, it won’t help unless you figure out the cause of the dry tips. It is typically too much or too little water, low light or the plant getting acclimated to a new environment. Repotting within the first few weeks of purchase can cause additional stress leading to yellowing and dry tips.

I recommend not giving it a haircut the first month to give the plant a chance to settle. It will continue to put out new growth with regular fertilizer, proper watering and adequate lighting.

Is that the pot it came in? I struggled with mine until I stuck it in a shallow pot because the bottom of the pot never dried out after watering.

No I had bought a pot that had holes in the bottom to help it dry out. I use the same pot but smaller on a few of my curly spider plants.
The pot it came in the plant have overgrown. When I had taken it out the roots were wrapped around a piece in the bottom of the pot and took up majority of the space with barely any soil so I had removed the plastic piece stuck and provided it with a new pot and soil.

Wow! That’s a gorgeous spider plant, I’m envious. It looks like you have another one behind it. What’s your plan to nurture these beauties?

Thanks! I’m new to house plants so I’m learning through here with trial and error.
