# Hello everyone, I have purchased so many plants that I am loosing…

Hello everyone, I have purchased so many plants that I am loosing living space and wanted to convert my TV stand into a functional indoor greenhouse. However most the information I have found online is about all glass Ikea greenhouses and only one wall of my TV stand is glass. Is it a bad idea because it’s wood? I have grow lights for the tops and sides and have portable fans to keep good airflow. Additionally, have glass plates that’s I will put rock and water in to increase the humidity. Attached a picture of my TV stand below.

Not an expert here, but the reason you would glass instead of wood would (ha) be to have a material that doesn’t rot if you’re using a humidifier in that space.

Well that’s why I’m using the rock with water I read it’s effective in increasing humidity. Because I agree using a humidifier could make the wood rot. I guess my biggest concern is if my plants would remain healthy surrounded by wood

Not really. I’ve tried putting a couple layers of clear coat on wood like that and it still got mold. 😞

The amount of effort required to make the cabinet waterproof is not worth it. It would be cheaper to get a metal and glass cabinet. You could find a spray sealant for the base cabinet and replace the shelves with ones made from metal, glass, plexiglass or plastic. You may also need to put in a vent. It’s not cost effective to convert it. 😕
